What a week! I can't believe how stressful things have been with the FCAT. Luckily, all students, with the exception of the fifth graders, are now done testing. The fifth graders still have to take the science tests on Monday and Tuesday, and I still have to proctor for those two tests. I am extremely glad that the rest of the year will be so much less stressful, since the FCAT has been the focus point of the whole school year thus far.

We're finished with the annual culmination of the abuse heaped upon the students of the state. I teach at a special center for severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed students and outbursts and conflicts are always expected, but these past weeks such incidents have been over the top. It's even spilled over to faculty and staff, as there has been friction among and between teachers and their assistants. To add insult to injury, faculty and staff were subjected to a professional development session concerning the grading of written FCAT responses on the day after the last test was administered. Apparently, the use of torture is not limited on enemy combatants. The coup de grace appears to be the current legislative session.
